the all american dream

What exactly is that anyway??? People say I'm living the all american dream.. Does this mean that all americans have the same dream, or that americans are dreaming about an existance which is essentially "all american" and devoid of other races?

From what little I watch of the news, I have come to the conclusion that the USA loves to meddle in other peoples affairs.. The whole issue with iraq, israel vs. palestine, india vs. pakistan, Vietnam etc etc.. My naive outlook on world politics today had led me to believe that it was out of genuine concern that these acts were performed..
Untill recently.
I'm now convinced (I'm sure everyone else was quite some time ago.. I'm jus a lil slow) that this is NOT the case. I think the US government likes to stick its unwholesomely large nose into everyone elses private matters jus to check out whats goin on..
There are several parallels that can be drawn between the USA and an old, idle, fairly well to do woman... She's bored, primarily because everything in her life went off so well.. She doesn't have to work excessively hard to keep herself going on a day to day basis, so she drops by her friends (less fortunate friends, might I add) on a day to day basis and comment on the inferiority of their lives.
Now you (and I hope SOMEONE reads this) might ask why I'm getting all hot and bothered about this now, when this has been goin on for a fair few years now..

And I'm gonna tell you..

Because earlier this morning, it hit a subject thats VERY close to my heart, and I get agitated whenever someone even mentions it..

its called the 90/10 theory, and in a minute, you're gonna hear all about it :-)

well, you didn't mention that woman's addiction to oil, and that she'd kill to get it. and the fact that actually she's not quite as well as she'd like to make you think: quite a few of her organs are weak, like her kidneys. they are corrupt and leave a great deal of dirt where it don't belong. her immunic system only works for the rich, and her heart beats more for some and less for others. she's got skin cancer from the hole in the ozon layer, and her lungs breathe air from marlboro country and more co2 than dr. kyoto would like her to.

and I'm going to metaphor-prison.
what about that theory?

It's good that you acknowledge the blatant hegemony of the US! Given that I am heading to that country as well, I guess it's something one has to reconcile with!
Calling the country a content old woman is perhaps only mild, and we could call it that later on, if Lady Clinton or Lady Rice come to power in 2008! The arrogance, ignorance and stupidity of that nation right now might need the tag of male chauvinist pig! ;-)

Jonathan: I like your comment/posts. Actually look forward to more metaphors on these lines!

Problem here-if all of you feel so bad about the US, why is one of you there and the other planning to go? Trying to change it or what?

ok...
apparantly many people feel strongly about this..

anonymous: I have no issues with what I can only assume is your country. I chose to come here, and its been a good decision. Ninety percent of the population is well informed and broad minded.. Its just the remaining ten percent who seem to spoil it for everyone.

jonathan: I'm really glad you like my blog! thanks :-)

scientist: I don't think either Hilary Clinton or Condelizza Rice have been knighted. Calling them ladies is a bit promiscuous. For the most part, I honestly don't see any chauvinism. There seemed to be more of that in the country that I came from

I do not come from the US. My only point is to make you realise the hypocrisy of some of the statements that you make.
As far as you thinking your decision was a right one-that is because you have no first hand information of any other!
And you comments were highly insulting to women. There are enough men I know who have all the 'qualities' you ascribe to that old lady. You should learn to be politically correct, especially in the country you reside in at present.

Well, as a 'country', I wonder if India is chauvinistic, but I can agree men here are certainly more that way!

Btw, I think I am quite pleased I dissallow anonymous comments on my blog, I think you should too!

the purpose of the metaphor was to compare in a quite clichee way, so that the point was clear. it wasn't meant to describe one actual woman, and I don't find it insulting to women in general. sure there are lots of men who have all those qualities, the "old lady" was just better for the metaphor.

and scientist is right: when discussing this, you can see our profiles and blogs, and pictures even (which I am still sorry for, by the way). you remain anonymous, yet you demand to take part here?

argueing is fine, difference in opinon is great, but if you want to be taken seriously, you should dare to invest a little more than an occasional, anonymous post.

Since all of you have paid attention to 'anonymous' it means that you are taking it seriously. And as far as this blogging is concerned, I thought it was an 'anonymous' activity? Or do you people know each other!

Anyhow, I leave now remaining anonymous!
